Weather and Locations
Oh Montana! So beautiful, but so unpredictable! In the instance that it rains, I always carry a few clear umbrellas with me. In the instance of snow, I’m totally down to photograph snow angels, snowball fights, and falling flurries. In the instance of wind, we can find spots with more coverage, or photograph in between gusts, but if at anytime any of these three scenarios get to the point where we collectively think it will ruin our session, we can reschedule. Please dress accordingly. Layers in the colder weather, and water and sunscreen on those beautiful sunny Montana days. I shoot fast and can get a lot covered in a short amount of time, but I want your session to be special, not stressful.
It’s all about the location! This can be the most important part of the entire session! Often do I scout around for unique, well lit, beautiful places to hold our session. Its not a hard task to do in Montana! If your up for a drive I will travel within 60 miles of Great Falls, free of an extra charge. Do you want a mountain top session, or a ski day date? How about walking by the river or finding a cool bridge? Our imagination and options are limitless, and together I’m positive we can bring both our visions into reality. (Well, within reason! I have a huge imagination!) During our consultation I will ask you questions about your vision, and its ok if you tell me you just want nice pictures! It gives me some freedom to branch outside of the box a bit! I do have to mention the most important job of a photographer Is to find good light. If the area you have your heart set on has poor natural lighting, I can find something similar, but may not be able to photograph there. This is another reason why we cannot hold your session at noon when the sun is the highest in the sky. It will cause harsh shadows and wash you out.
